George RR Martin explains Elden Ring collaboration

With Elden Ring solely weeks away, legendary creator George R.R Martin took to his blog to disclose what led him to work on his first online game. Admitting that video video games “aren’t actually my factor” Martin goes onto say that regardless of that, what Hidetaka Miyazaki approached him with was merely “too thrilling to refuse”.

“Miyazaki and his workforce from FromSoftware have been doing ground-breaking stuff with attractive artwork, and what they wished from me was only a little bit of worldbuilding: a deep, darkish, resonant world to function a basis for the sport they deliberate to create,” Martin wrote “And because it occurs, I like creating worlds and writing imaginary historical past.”

Regardless of his admission that he’s not likely a gamer, Martin expresses fondness for a number of choose classics: Railroad Tycoon, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and Grasp of Orion. Curiously, Martin reveals that his contributions to the sport have been completed years in the past, confirming that his worldbuilding laid the foundations for the sport.

“What they wished from me was only a little bit of worldbuilding: a deep, darkish, resonant world to function a basis for the sport they deliberate to create. So, I did my bit, and handed off to my new mates in Japan, they usually took it from there.”

As beforehand confirmed, Martin didn’t write any of the dialogue or textual content for Elden Ring. It seems Martin is fairly happy with the completed venture, stating that Elden Ring “…seems unimaginable.”

Based mostly on what we’ve performed to this point, we’d be inclined to agree, with our preview stating that Elden Ring’s “already shaping as much as be one thing particular”

Elden Ring can be launched on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Sequence X on February 25, 2022.
